I am Imnicka, this is my journey of kidney disease, and I hope all you get inspired by it. There are millions of people that get affected with kidney disease worldwide every year. Some lose their life not because of the health condition but because of daunting procedures like dialysis. Surviving with kidney disease is literally hard, but only for those who do not know how to make their way. The right treatment and you can get better, but the wrong treatment and your health are at risk. 

I am 45-years old and a mother of two. I have had nephrotic syndrome in the past, and my journey began at the time when I was 44 years old. I noticed frequent swelling in my ankles and abdomen, and so I was taken to the hospital by my husband. 

The Doctor went through a few of the tests, and the reports showed that I was expelling protein in my urine. My kidney function was not appropriate, so the body allowed the protein to skip through the filters. This was told by my Doctor named Achinkaya. Also, my cholesterol level was not apt, and I also had high blood pressure.

The Doctor referred me to a nephrologist to begin the treatment as early as I could. The standard statement was steroids, along with cholesterol medications and ACE inhibitors. When my health got better, the family of our family decided on a trip. It was a long break planned for Christmas, so the reason was pretty cool to celebrate. But I noticed swelling all over my stomach and got sick with a fever. We had to postpone the entire journey and come back to the hospital. Only after the biopsy, I was diagnosed with minimal change disease along with the nephrotic syndrome. This time steroids did not work, and I had to move to immunosuppressants.
